The times, they are a changin’ …

Why is it that Bob Dylan is so appropriate to so many situations? This school year is going to be full of changes for myself, my colleagues, and our students. While I can’t say that anything will be better or worse than it has in the past – it will all be different and interesting. Our school district is in a tough spot right now. What happens this year will decide if our building stays open or gets closed. It will decide if teachers keep their jobs or get furloughed. This article in today’s paper talks a little bit about the issues. I will certainly be looking through the report myself to get my own handle on the situation. As I said, many things will be changing. Budgets have been cut, schedules rearranged, and many teachers are feeling overloaded while others are feeling their skills will be underused.

Funny, that in this time of uncertainty and speculation about the future, I have been presented with an incredible opportunity. This year I will be leaving the comforts and familiarity of my music room to be the Classrooms for the Future coach for our school district. My substitute arrives Tuesday morning and I will hand my entire program over to a stranger for a year. Eeeek! This, I must say, is the downside of my new position. It’s going to be an interesting year in many many ways.

  1. Exciting stuff! I'm also a CFF coach in Hanover, PA. This is my second year doing it and my bet is that you'll really enjoy it. Hope we get a chance to talk in person:)
