Nature's Fashioning Hand

Winter has finally arrived in North Western PA! Snow day yesterday + new camera toys = priceless.

“Nature is full of genius, full of the divinity; so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand.”  Henry David Thoreau

I've always been a fan of Macro photography. It just amazes me that the tools exist to literally create an image that is larger than life. I have a long way to go in my quest to master this art but, I've at least gotten a start on it this weekend.

This is my first "real" attempt at macro photography.  I am too cheap or too poor (or some combination of both) to buy a macro lens but I did buy some extension tubes.   Of probably 100 shots I got this one that I am kind of almost happy with.

This shot was taken with a Nikon 18 - 105 lens and a total of  22mm extension tubes - on the windshield of my car in the middle of the day.

The extension tubes seem to really cut down on the amount of light that makes it through.  Processing included cropping, auto levels adjustment, and turning up the vibrance.
